  • Rating and location
There are often more applicants for popular courses than there are places. Then it is your grades that determine whether you get a place. Each grade is worth a certain number of points which are added up to your credit score. The students with the highest merit value are offered a place first.
  • Grades are converted to merit value
For the preliminary admission, the merit value of your grades from the fall semester in grade 9 is used if you do not already have a final grade. Then you can get an idea of your chance of entering various courses. In the case of final admission, the merit value from your final grade in year 9 is used. If you attend an introductory program and get passing grades in primary school subjects, you will receive a new final grade. Your merit value is then calculated based on your new final grade. If you have attended law school and received a grade, you are also entitled to a new final grade.
  • How you calculate your merit value
Merit value is a number that indicates your study results and is based on the 16 or 17 highest grades you have. The easiest way to calculate your credit score is to make a list of your grades, then add them up. If you have the highest possible grades in all subjects at upper secondary school, excluding modern languages, the total will be 320 points. With modern languages, the total is 340 points. If you have fewer than 16 grades, your merit value is based on the grades you have received. Keep in mind that you must have a passing grade (at least E) in certain subjects to be eligible for national programs.
  • Combine the desired program
Even though a school offers sports education, it does not automatically mean that it can be combined with all the school’s programs. It is therefore important that you check with the school that you can combine the desired program with your sports commitment.
