How do you get into a hockey sixth-form college?

On hockeygymnasiet.se, you will find 33 national ice hockey secondary schools (NIU), of which 6 are for girls, 64 local ice hockey secondary schools and 21 local ice hockey secondary schools for girls (LIU & LIP).

1 January (this year)

Work is beginning on the autumn intake for NIU/Elite hockey secondary schools.
During the period from 1 January (the U15 year) to 1 September (the U16 year), NIU ice hockey secondary schools may do the following:
Scouting begins with the current age group.
The club’s NIU representatives attend matches and watch players.
The club invites you to any trial days or visits.
The first date on which a place can be offered at the relevant NIU is 10 October of the U16 year.

7 September (this year)

Applications are now open for students who wish to start studying at NIU.

10 Oct. (this year)

First valid date for submitting an early application for a place at NIU.

1 Dec. (this year)

The deadline for applications to NIU for the autumn term is now 1 December.

25 Jan. (next year)

Deadline for informing students who have applied to NIU.

26 Jan. (next year)

The deadline for a student to accept an offer of a place on the NIU programme.

Admissions Process for the NIU Hockey High School

Step 1
Please register your interest by 1 December at the latest on the SIF website. A maximum of 4 different options.
Step 2
Work out your merit points to find the right course at upper secondary school.
Step 3
Once you have registered your interest, you will be notified of the outcome of your sports admission application by 25 January at the latest.
Step 4
Choosing a sixth-form college: applications for programme choices must be submitted between 9 January and 15 February.

Admissions process for LIU and LIP Hockey High School

Step 1
Please register your interest with LIU/LIP by 1 February. You apply for upper secondary programmes via the Upper Secondary Admissions System.
Step 2
Once the application period has closed, an initial provisional selection is made.
Step 3
You must meet the entry requirements, which means having passed the required subjects.
Step 4
In these cases, you will only be notified of whether you have been admitted during the final admissions round.
