Nationally approved sports education programs (NIU) and local sports education programs (LIU) offer the opportunity to combine your high school education with high-level sports. In order to offer a sports education (NIU/LIU), the school must be approved by the Swedish Hockey Association for the hockey profile they want to teach and have received permission from the Swedish National Agency for Education. At Hockey High School, you will find 33 national hockey high schools, including 6 for girls, approximately 90 local hockey high schools, and 21 hockey high schools for girls.

WHEN DO YOU APPLY TO HOCKEY HIGH SCHOOL?

Most NIU hockey high schools have a deadline of December 1. The application date for LIU hockey high schools can vary from February to July.

NIU / LIU HOCKEY GYMNASIUM MERIT POINTS

NIU: This applies to 200 credits in your individual elective and 200 credits in the program specializations. In addition, you can study 300 credits as an extended program. Those who choose LIU study 200 credits in the subject of specialized sports.

What is the difference between Liu and Niu Hockey High School?

NIU = Nationally approved sports education, for those who want to combine their education with sports.
LIU = Local sports education, for those who want to study extra sports as an individual choice.
