Södertälje SK’s elite ice hockey sixth-form college is certified as a nationally approved sports education programme (NIU) by the Swedish Ice Hockey Association and the Swedish Sports Confederation. During your three years at our ice hockey sixth-form college, you will enjoy an educational and enriching experience. We follow the Swedish Ice Hockey Association’s guidelines for our programme, but also see it as a key part of our commitment to junior hockey at SSK, aimed at developing future first-team players. The curriculum at the ice hockey sixth-form college focuses on both practical and theoretical elements. The practical training aims, amongst other things, to develop your physical fitness, technique, skating skills and your individual understanding of the game. The theoretical part covers subjects such as training science, nutrition, sports psychology and injury prevention training. LIU Ice Hockey Sixth Form Programme for Girls Södertälje SK, in collaboration with our three sixth form colleges – Täljegymnasiet, Torekällgymnasiet and Vackastanäsgymnasiet – is launching local sports programmes, LIU. This means that, as part of an individual choice, students will take two courses in Sport and Health Specialisation 1 and 2. The sports available for this course are ice hockey, specifically aimed at girls. The aim of these courses is, just as it is for those applying for national sports programmes, to enable students to combine their sporting commitments with their studies whilst remaining in their home town. Training sessions will take place on Wednesday mornings, partly with pupils from Rosenborg, and on Friday afternoons with coaches from Södertälje SK.

To be accepted onto the NIU ice hockey programme, you must also be accepted onto the course you are applying for. You can find the current courses on the respective school’s website. Applications for upper secondary school courses are submitted in the usual way. When competing for a place at upper secondary school, you will be competing with other applicants for the various upper secondary programmes based on your Year 9 grades.

Applications to Linköping Elite Sports Upper Secondary School are made in two stages. Firstly, during the autumn, you must apply for a sport via the relevant national sports federation and be accepted; secondly, you must apply for an upper secondary programme (during the period January–February or during the re-application period April–May). Please note: You must have been accepted onto a sport for your application to a programme at the Elite Sports Upper Secondary School to be valid.
