Our local sports programme allows you to specialise in your chosen sport as part of your upper secondary education. We offer two options, depending on the sport. All programmes start in Year 1 and run for three years. LIU Special comprises 200 credits. LIU is suitable for all sports; you specify which sport you practise and which club you belong to. Sports theory and common practical elements are carried out during regular school hours and are included in the timetable. Some practical elements take place during regular training sessions organised by your club. The course tutors maintain regular contact with your coach throughout the three years. The theoretical components cover various training methods, nutrition and dietary knowledge, anatomy and physiology, and more. It is worth noting that in Year 3, you have the option to take an elective 100-credit course as an individual choice, which then becomes an extended course – an option available only through LIU Special.

If you’re interested in practising your sport as part of the individual choice programme in upper secondary school, Local Sports Education (LIU) might be for you. You apply to LIU/LIP as early as Year 9. This is done as part of the same application you submit to the upper secondary school. If there are a large number of applicants, places will be allocated by lottery. For pupils on the LIU/LIP programme, the ‘individual choice’ programme begins in Year 1 and continues throughout all three years.
