Huddinge Hockey, in collaboration with Huddingegymnasiet, runs a nationally approved sports education programme (NIU) authorised by the Swedish Ice Hockey Association. The ice hockey upper secondary school is a central part of the club’s elite programme, where talented players, with good guidance and excellent training facilities, can develop into elite-level players. As a pupil at the ice hockey sixth-form college in Huddinge, you will not only face sporting challenges but will also be expected to achieve good results in your studies. We focus on developing the whole person – that is, providing the best possible foundation for a future in ice hockey and beyond your hockey career. Studying and training on the NIU programme means that, as an applicant, you’ll have a great opportunity to combine upper secondary studies with a continued pursuit of elite-level ice hockey.

NIU is a nationally accredited sports education programme where admission is subject to specific criteria. Pupils are limited to choosing four alternative NIU schools, without ranking them, so please consider your choices carefully. In the run-up to the closing date for applications, contact is made with club coaches and district coaches, and trial sessions and match scouting take place. The assessment and ranking of applicants is carried out by the respective organising upper secondary school, the partner club and the coach responsible for training. Players may be offered a reserve place, which means they will be offered a place if any of the accepted players choose to decline or withdraw. Should it transpire that the club’s squads undergo significant changes during the autumn, and more places become available, an initial ‘no’ or rejection may be changed to an offer of a place, provided that the student has not already accepted a place elsewhere.

Applications to Linköping Elite Sports Upper Secondary School are made in two stages. Firstly, during the autumn, you must apply for a sport via the relevant national sports federation and be accepted; secondly, you must apply for an upper secondary programme (during the period January–February or during the re-application period April–May). Please note: You must have been accepted onto a sport for your application to a programme at the Elite Sports Upper Secondary School to be valid.
