Leksand Upper Secondary School offers a nationally accredited sports programme (NIU) in ice hockey in partnership with Leksands IF. The elite ice hockey programme is certified by the Swedish Ice Hockey Association and approved by the Swedish National Agency for Education. Leksand Upper Secondary School and Leksand IF’s ice hockey section work together to create the best possible conditions for boys and girls to develop their skills as elite-level ice hockey players. Pupils can combine their elite sporting commitments with studies on all of the school’s programmes, with the exception of the upper secondary apprenticeship programme. In collaboration with Leksands IF and Häradsbygdens SS, we run LIU – ice hockey. You’ll train with Team Leksand during school hours, two to three days a week. All programmes, apart from the upper secondary apprenticeship programme, can be combined with LIU ice hockey.

Applications usually open in mid-September. You can change your choices on the application form until 1 December; after that, your choices are final. Decisions may be issued gradually, but all students must have received a decision by 25 January at the latest. Applications are made via the Swedish Ice Hockey Association. The selection process involves scouting, references and try-outs. Leksands IF is looking for players who meet the necessary prerequisites to become elite players for Leksands IF in the future. Players must possess the right character to fit into Leksands IF’s model, be determined and demonstrate personal drive in their commitment to the sport. The scouting group consists of coaches from across the junior programme. Leksands IF enters into individual junior contracts with players accepted into the ice hockey sixth-form college.

Applications to Linköping Elite Sports Upper Secondary School are made in two stages. Firstly, during the autumn, you must apply for a sport via the relevant national sports federation and be accepted; secondly, you must apply for an upper secondary programme (during the period January–February or during the re-application period April–May). Please note: You must have been accepted onto a sport for your application to a programme at the Elite Sports Upper Secondary School to be valid.
