Karlskrona HK, in partnership with Karlskrona Municipality, offers players the opportunity to combine their sixth-form studies with ice hockey. Last year, a number of junior players were given the chance to get a taste of the first team, and we want to invest in our junior programme so that, in the future, we can develop more of our own players for the first team. Our U20 team plays in the J20 Regional South league and our U18 team plays in the J18ELIT league. For players born in 2001 and later, we are one of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association’s certified Elite Hockey Sixth Form Colleges, known as NIU (Nationally Approved Sports Education; see the leaflet on NIU Karlskrona). We see it as a strength that we can offer you any of the programmes listed here alongside your ice hockey studies.

When it comes to ice hockey training, the focus is on individual development, and we hope that you, as a player, will make significant progress during your three years with us. But of course, we also expect you to prioritise your schoolwork so that you can succeed in your future career. We run ice hockey training and fitness sessions three mornings a week, as well as theory sessions one afternoon. Here, for example, we cover nutrition, training theory, injuries and hockey theory. All the coaches involved hold at least a J18/J20 Elite coaching qualification. You can apply via the Swedish Ice Hockey Association’s website
