IF Troja-Ljungby runs one of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association’s 33 certified NIU ice hockey sixth-form colleges. Each year group comprises 12–14 pupils, who are admitted on the basis of their ice hockey ability and academic results. Students are given the opportunity to combine their upper secondary studies with a focus on elite-level ice hockey. Through dedicated training, they are given the chance to develop and become better ice hockey players, with their sights set on a career as elite ice hockey players. Players receive a well-rounded basic education with a heavy focus on training under the guidance of professional coaches. Training sessions take place during school hours. Over the years, many players have progressed through the Ice Hockey Sixth Form and Troja’s Youth and Junior programmes to join Troja’s men’s team, as well as other elite-level clubs in Sweden, Europe and North America.

Here, you’ll have the opportunity to combine your upper secondary studies with a high-performance ice hockey programme. Through focused training at the National Sports Education Programme (NIU) for ice hockey, you can develop your talent and become a better ice hockey player. You’ll receive a well-rounded basic education with a significant focus on strength training under the guidance of professional coaches. Training sessions take place during school hours. Upon completion of the programme, you’ll have achieved Level 1 coaching qualification. You will have 400 credits of your upper secondary school credits allocated to ice hockey (200 credits for programme specialisation, 200 credits for individual choice). The programme is designed for elite-level athletes and is open to all applicants.

Applications to Linköping Elite Sports Upper Secondary School are made in two stages. Firstly, during the autumn, you must apply for a sport via the relevant national sports federation and be accepted; secondly, you must apply for an upper secondary programme (during the period January–February or during the re-application period April–May). Please note: You must have been accepted onto a sport for your application to a programme at the Elite Sports Upper Secondary School to be valid.
