Skellefteå Upper Secondary School has been certified by the Swedish Ice Hockey Association to provide a nationally accredited sports programme in ice hockey. The NIU ice hockey programme is aimed at those who aspire to reach elite level.

Applications open on 9 September for pupils in Year 9 and close on 1 December. Notifications regarding admission on sporting merit will be issued progressively, and all applicants will be notified of their admission status by 25 January at the latest, i.e. before they are due to submit their programme choices to the school. Pupils must, in turn, decide on their offers by 26 January at the latest. Any pupil who does not respond by the deadline will forfeit their offers and will not be able to attend an elite ice hockey sixth-form college.

You can apply for four different options, which do not need to be listed in order of preference.
The course accounts for 400 of the total 2,500 credits required to obtain a recognised qualification, and its aim is to enable pupils to combine their commitment to ice hockey with their upper secondary studies.

Applications to Linköping Elite Sports Upper Secondary School are made in two stages. Firstly, during the autumn, you must apply for a sport via the relevant national sports federation and be accepted; secondly, you must apply for an upper secondary programme (during the period January–February or during the re-application period April–May). Please note: You must have been accepted onto a sport for your application to a programme at the Elite Sports Upper Secondary School to be valid.
