About the Royal Institute of Technology
The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) is Sweden's oldest and largest technical university, founded in 1827, and today has approximately 14,000 students and 1,500 doctoral students, as well as just over 1,160 employees. The university has a strong profile in technology and natural sciences, with a focus on innovation, research, and the education of engineers, architects, and technology doctors.
Basic level (bachelor's degree, civil engineer, university engineer)
1. Applications are submitted via antagning.se (national portal), usually followed by two selection rounds:
- Grade selection (1/3–2/3 of places)
- Test selection (based on the university entrance exam) – you can participate in both selections at the same time.
2. Eligibility requires:
- Basic (high school diploma) and specific (e.g., mathematics, physics) eligibility.
- Documents must be uploaded to antagning.se no later than the final supplementary date.
3. Notification:
Reserves will be called upon if regular spots are filled.
Advanced level (master's programs, international students)
1. Application via universityadmissions.se, opens mid-October – closes January 15.
2. Requirements:
- English: IELTS ≥ 6.5 or TOEFL ≥ 90
- Possibly CV, cover letter, recommendations – depending on the program.
3. Documents:
- Last push – no later than February 2–3 (depending on the year)
- Non-EU students pay an application fee (900 SEK).
4. Selection & results:
- Handled via national system (NyA/VO + local assessment).
- Announcement at the end of March (sometimes early April).
- On Reddit, students confirm that "results posted ... March 27."

- Be able to take a lot of personal responsibility for your development, both in hockey and at school.
- Be among the best players in your region.
