The aim of the Ice Hockey Upper Secondary School is to facilitate the combination of elite sport and studies. Pupils are to be given the opportunity to develop their sporting skills alongside their upper secondary education. The Ice Hockey Upper Secondary School in Örnsköldsvik is certified as a ”Nationally Approved Sports Education Programme”. Among other things, this means that the Swedish Ice Hockey Association vouches for the quality of the sporting programme.
Admission decisions are announced in mid-January. Students who are to study at the Ice Hockey Upper Secondary School choose the programme that is best suited to them, taking into account their academic abilities and future plans. Applications for programme choices at upper secondary school are submitted in the usual way: APPLICATION AND ADMISSION, STUDENT FINANCE AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT. Individual training, both fun and developmental! – Per Hållberg to the admissions board in their home town. The application should state that the student wishes to study the specialised sports/ice hockey programme in another town. Students who are admitted will then join the ice hockey team on the basis of their sporting merit. Selection is based on scouting, trial matches, and contacts with club coaches and district associations. Merits include, amongst other things, performances in league matches and cups, TV-Puck tournaments and participation in the association’s training camps and national team activities.
Applications to Linköping Elite Sports Upper Secondary School are made in two stages. Firstly, during the autumn, you must apply for a sport via the relevant national sports federation and be accepted; secondly, you must apply for an upper secondary programme (during the period January–February or during the re-application period April–May). Please note: You must have been accepted onto a sport for your application to a programme at the Elite Sports Upper Secondary School to be valid.
