Färjestad BK collaborates with Karlstad Fria Läroverk to create the best conditions for an elite ice hockey program with first-class studies in a modern environment. The goal is to give students at the hockey high school the conditions they need to perform well in both hockey and their studies. NIU education is based on a holistic approach to the individual, with a developed dialogue between teachers at the school, instructors, and you as a student.

To be accepted into an NIU program, you need to submit a separate application to the respective Special Sports Federation and attend a selection process. You must apply to the Special Sports Federation no later than December 1 of the year before you start high school. Application links for each sport can be found below. All applicants are invited to a selection process, during which you will practice your sport and participate in an interview so that the instructors can select the students who are considered to have the potential to reach the national elite level. After the selection process, you will receive an admission notice. Please note that you must also apply and be admitted to a program at the school in order to secure your NIU place.
